- Just a comment on tonight's assignment: You do not need to provide an explanation for #5, 6, and 8.
- Quest on Monday! - See the new assignment sheet (REVISED)!! (Note: On the worksheet, Finish #3. If you did not finish #4, that is okay.)
- On #3, you must first set up equations for the perimeter and area (so let the length = y and width = x). You can then get one equation for just the area in terms of x. - I have decided to give everyone another day to complete and correct this homework assignment. Finish as much as you can for tomorrow and try your best.
- Set these problems up algebraically, but you can use the graphing calculator to solve get the equation and check your answers. ANSWERS to HW (page 210-214 #2, 4, 6) #2: a) x = time after you pull the plug and y = #liters remaining so equation y = 2.4x^2 - 24x + 60 b) 60 Liters c) 5minutes d) 0L, yes, reasonable e) See the graphing calc. f) explain why this is not a linear function #4) a) y = 0.01x^2 - x + 37: make sure your y values are #cents/kilometer and x values are # of kilometers per hour (or speed) b) $1.12/km or 112cents/km c) between 40 and 60 km/hour d) No e) 50km/hr #6) a) d = -16t^2 + 40t + 4 b) (1.25, 29): maximum altitude was 29ft, 1.25 seconds after the kick c) t = 2.6 sec or -0.1sec (out of the domain) #2: a) x = time and y = #liters remaining so equation y = 2.4x^2 - 24x + 60 b) 60 Liters c) 5minutes d) 0L, yes, reasonable #4) a) y = 0.01x^2 - x + 37: make sure your your y values are #cents/kilometer and x values are # of kilometers per hour (or speed) b) $1.12/km or 112cents/km c) between 40 and 60 km/hour d) No e) 50km/hr #6) a) d = -16t^2 + 40t + 4 b) (1.25, 29): maximum altitude was 29ft, 1.25 seconds after the kick c) t = 2.6 sec or -0.1sec (out of the domain) - Just a recap of what I said in class about the HW
- HW: 2 problems on the back of the Graphing Calculator Activity Sheet AND - 3 problems on the Assignment sheet from Chapter 5.5 in the book (OR) if you finished the 5.5 worksheet in class and understand it, you don't need to do the additional problems in the book. ** Also, I still have some graphing calc. loaners. If you still do not have your own, please speak to me. ** - Have a good weekend! - Don't forget to study for your quiz tomorrow on Sections 5.! It will have complex numbers on it.
- The change to the HW was that you don't need to do #14, 16, or 18. I made it shorter for you :-)
- On the HW, use the Quadratic Formula to find the x-intercepts. The quadratic formula is in the book and it is the last step on the sheet we did in class today.
- On the HW, change to vertex form to graph. Graph by hand. You may check your graph on the calculator.
- HW: Finish the worksheets! Make note of any problems you encountered so you can ask me on Monday
- On the "Graphing on the TI83 & TI84" sheet, pick two of the three of them to do. - Test tomorrow! I highly recommend finishing the review sheet to help you study.
- Please don't forget to bring your graphing calculator with you tomorr |
